The Babadook

Babadook seemed like it was going to be a one great horror movie. However, that was not the case. While the Babadook was creative and original, the plot dragged this film down and made it almost unwatchable. The child who was one of the two main characters was not troubled but just plain annoying. He was screaming,  not from being frightened, which is not a good way to pull viewers in. The scares were not even scary and I found myself only caring about the dog which the family owned. There was great potential for this film it just feel greatly short.  The animation of the Babadook was  interesting and different from most other films, too bad it didn’t have a major part in the film. I  would not recommend watching this film unless you’ve got nothing better to do.

Bottom Line (Warning Contains Spoilers)

I know I hounded this film above for it’s lack of being scary let me elaborate a bit more on this the Babadook is a really cool charcter idea if he was actually in the film longer than like 15 minutes… Yes you have to sit and watch the kid scream it’s head off for most of the movie to then have what you’ve been waiting for. Then it’s not even scary nor is the ending where the befriend the scary creature. If you’re asking yourself if what I just said was true, yes, yes it is. It is a terrible horror that wasn’t a great horror film for horror lovers. It would probably be scary for those who only have seen maybe two horror films in their lives, but obviously I’m not one of them and I felt this movie was just a disappointment on a grand scale.
