To call Shane a classic would be an understatement. This film adaptation of the book of the same name is wonderful. Shane falls into the golden age of Western film making where the good guys win and a mans got to do what a mans got to do. This might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I love this style of film. From start to end this film shows what a western should be if you haven’t seen Shane do yourself a favor and watch it you will not be disappointed. The only draw back to this film is the kid does get annoying but it doesn’t take away from the movie. This is a movie that I watch every couple of years and is a staple in the western film genre.

Bottom Line (Warning Contains Spoilers)

Okay so not only is Shane a classic Western book, but also movie. While I enjoy the film for the most part, the fights and action was great. The only part I didn’t care for was the kid. I found him very detrimental to the flow of film. I felt his part really slowed the film down and made the ending have less of an impact as it should. I like this movie and think it’s a classic but if you were to bring up this movie all I could think about is the end where the kid constantly yells “Shane!”. It is the only part I remember from it the rest is a generically great western story and that’s the problem. It’s the out-liar that makes the film standout. If I had a choice I would much rather watch another Western.
