Hush

The psychopath who traps people in their home to torture them is nothing new. However the way Hush works around this concept is brilliant. It felt fresh and original which made me sit on the edge of my seat wondering what happens next. I will say there are some scenes with intense strobe flashes so if you’re prone to that just be aware it will happen. Honestly this film has to be up there for me I would put it on the same level as Torment and The Strangers. The way the psychopath is portrayed is incredible and makes it feel different instead of the same generic thing over and over again. I would definitely recommend seeing this film.

Bottom Line (Warning Contains Spoilers)

This film is really made by two critical plot ideas. First is the fact the main character is both deaf and mute. It makes the film more intense because the typical reactions like the killer breaking in isn’t the same. It gives a completely different watching experience. The other is that the killer actually takes off his mask during the film and doesn’t use it past a certain point. It gave the character more depth and the viewer is allowed to see his cold stare and minute facial expressions making the film all the more terrifying. I definitely recommend seeing this film.
