The Wicker Man

I have heard rave reviews on this film and thought after seeing the remake that there wasn’t much reason for why people like The Wicker Man. I couldn’t have been more wrong (and happily so). This movie is truly incredible and a masterpiece. There is so much depth to the film. The characters are creepy and really sets the viewer on edge. From start to finish there are so many twists and frankly some of the major plot points are freaky. Christopher Lee does an amazing job acting and really…

Jaws

Jaws is one of those iconic films that is both a masterpiece and tragedy. It is often rated in the top 100 greatest film ever made. However it’s impact that it has had on shark populations is staggering. That being said I will just be focusing on the film itself and not the issues surrounding the film. Jaws is great from the amazing lifelike mechanical shark to its incredible score. It is a treat to watch and can be watched time and time again. The acting is perfect even the…

It’s A Beautiful Day

From the same person who made World Of Tomorrow It’s A Beautiful Day is quite unique. The film is very stylized and can take the viewer quite a while to get used to. The other issue that this movie has is that it is slow sometimes painfully so. After watching the film the I was left in a very interesting and contemplative mood. The depth and emotions that are produced from watching it are many and complex. It is worth a watch but honestly I’m not going to be watching…

Insidious

The first film in the Insidious franchise is an amazing movie. While not the scariest horror film it does rise above most and makes a great impression on the viewer. The cinematography really sets this film apart, but it is also backed by an incredible plot with solid acting. Although there is some lack of replay value due to the film not being constantly scary the cinematography carries the film in the replay value from well crafted scenes. It is worth seeing at least once. Bottom Line (Warning Contains Spoilers)…

8 1/2

This film is a foreign black and white classic, I went into this film this expecting a great and wonderful film. To be honest I was not disappointed the entire film centers around a director who is trying to make a film when his lover and wife show up at the same time. From there the film becomes a cinematic masterpiece which blurs the lines between what is real and what is in the director’s head. While the film does have a rather slow and tedious start it is well…

The 7th Seal

The 7th Seal is a beautifully executed piece of classic cinema. The film itself is timeless focusing on a man playing a chess game with the grim reaper/death for his life. Throughout the film it’s rather interesting pacing helps keeps the viewers attention. While some of the film the viewer will be wondering what they are watching the movie is a treat and well made. It really feels like a well executed Shakespearean play. The dialogue between Gunnar Björnstrand and Death is interesting and helps make the film very cerebral…

Green Street Hooligans

While Elijah Woods is probably best know for his appearance in The Lord Of The Rings films, however one of his best works is Green Street Hooligans. The film centers around Matt Buckner, Elijah Woods, being kicked out of a prestigious university and struggling to find a purpose in life. He then goes to England and joins a firm for a British Premier League team. The film then focuses on the changes that happen to Matt. The plot is incredible and really pulls the viewer in. The acting is amazing…

The Darjeeling Limited

What do you get when you combine Wes Anderson, Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Jason Schwartzman? A wonderfully comical and bizarre film The Darjeeling Limited. The film has beautiful cinematography not only with balance but as well as background. From start to finish the movie is a trip. The plot interesting and makes the viewer constantly ask what is going on. It flows beautifully with comedy and drama. The comedic parts of the film are incredible and quite memorable. Characters have some of the best depth that I have ever…

Guardians Of The Galaxy

One of the many Marvel releases that came out it is easy to look over Guardians Of The Galaxy with the other bigger box office hits. The truth is that it far outshines many of the other Marvel films. It has a bit of everything for everyone. The action scenes are well executed and makes the viewer sit on the edge of their seat. The characters really come to life and makes the viewer connect strongly with them. This is due to a beautifully constructed plot that provides great pacing…

Silent Night, Bloody Night

Despite the connotations of this being a horror Christmas movie, Silent Night, Bloody Night is incredible. This film really does not center around a Christmas theme more over it just happens to occur on Christmas. From beginning to the end the plot twists and turns making the viewer sit on the edge of their seat. The movie has stood the test of time and it is easy to see why. The characters have depth with great acting. It really makes the viewer wonder what is going to happen next. If…
