Guardians Of The Galaxy

One of the many Marvel releases that came out it is easy to look over Guardians Of The Galaxy with the other bigger box office hits. The truth is that it far outshines many of the other Marvel films. It has a bit of everything for everyone. The action scenes are well executed and makes the viewer sit on the edge of their seat. The characters really come to life and makes the viewer connect strongly with them. This is due to a beautifully constructed plot that provides great pacing…

Tokyo Gore Police

Where to start with this crazy film. Well imagine combining a futuristic society with Power Rangers and crazy Japanese action scenes, even that doesn’t do it justice. From start to finish I sat there questioning why I was watching this film. Yet it’s so badly good you can’t take your eyes off it. The plot is extremely convoluted and to be honest it isn’t the reason to watch the film. There is so much blood that it can only be described by combining ever single gore movie in American cinema…

Yojimbo

Yojimbo is one of the great films from director Akira Kurosawa. If you are a fan of westerns then you probably know the remake of this film A Fistful Of Dollars. Kurosawa shows why he influenced so many other directors because every scene in this film a joy to watch and makes the viewer know that they are watching is special. Based in the day of the samurai Yojimbo portrays a drifting samurai and the conflict between two warning factions. The plot blends the perfect amount of drama, action, and…

X-Men Origins Wolverine

While I’m a huge fan of anything Marvel and usually a lover of their films, X-Men Origins: Wolverine was definitely a flop. The idea of spinning off origin stories from the success of the other X-Men films was a good idea. However the execution was terrible, several of the fight scenes were forced and cheesy. It made the movie drag because the plot wasn’t stellar either. The emotional investment into the characters the viewer feels is nonexistent. Don’t get me wrong finally seeing Deadpool and Gambit in a film was…

Watchmen

Watchmen is based off of an Alan Moore graphic novel just like V for Vendetta. The acting, cinematography, music, special effects, and action scenes are truly fantastic. It is one of the best superhero film in this category. The only issue I have with Watchmen is the plot. As the cornerstone of the movie it falls short. The flow is choppy and makes the movie very hard to get into. This is coupled with a gratuitous amount of sex scenes for no real reason. The comedy scenes are rather funny,…

V For Vendetta

Based on the graphic novel of the same title V For Vendetta takes place in a dystopian society. At some points this movie is truly amazing and does justice to the graphic novel, but at others I really feel like it falls short. This film is in that gray zone of liking the film but at the same time not loving it. I feel that this has nothing to do with acting, nor the cinematography of the film, more over that the flow in the plot felt off. This film…

The Italian Job (1969)

The Italian Job is one of the most interesting films I’ve seen. Part amazing (due to Micheal Caine) and part weird (due to Benny Hill) this film just can’t make up it’s mind on what it should be. While I truly like this film I will warn you that there are several scenes that will date this movie. The only thing that I don’t like about The Italian Job is the main song throughout the film is super annoying and it will get stuck in your head. If you’re looking…

Ironclad

Ironclad is yet another remake of The 7th Samurai film unlike the other remakes this one takes place in England during the turbulent reign of King John. If you know the plot of the original then this one should be no surprise. The action scenes are disorienting at time due to the shaking camera, that being said the fighting scenes are good. The acting isn’t great but nor is it terrible. The gore in this film is rather excessive and to be honest it takes away from the film. This…

Harry Brown

Harry Brown is one of those films that you just sit and marvel at the acting legend that is Micheal Caine. From start to finish Harry Brown immerses the viewer into the world the Harry lives in. If you’re looking for a happy go lucky movie I suggest going else where. If you liked Gran Torino then this movie is for you. I mean really what needs to said it has Micheal Caine in it and it should be on everyone’s watch list. Bottom Line (Warning Contains Spoilers) Micheal Caine…

Gladiator

Gladiator is one of the best movies ever made. Russell Crowe gives the performance of a lifetime as a Gladiator seeking his freedom and revenge. The cinematography is absolutely spectacular and some of the best I’ve ever seen.  This action drama weaves such an interesting tale that it makes Gladiator have a high replay value. The music and sound effects are incredible at pulling the viewer in and immersing them in the world that was the Roman Empire. Give this film a watch you won’t be disappointed. Bottom Line (Warning…
