The Most Dangerous Game

This classic film based on the novel of the same name is an adventure/action film with a rather iconic plot. To say this film will have you on the edge of your seat  is an over-statement, but don’t let that discourage you from seeing it. The plot is well paced and while short it still is better than most films produced today. There are some unbelievable scenes in the film, but that is what makes it great. It is stereotypical with the strong male lead and the sinister villain which…

The Dead Room

To say I had little hope for The Dead Room was an understatement, this is one of those movies where I was completely wrong. I had been recommended this film by Netflix because I watch The Babadook and it was another Australian horror film. Honestly after watching this film I can definitely say this film is leaps and bounds better than The Babadook. The characters are more intriguing, the dynamic between all of them is both entertaining and funny. It felt like an Australian version of The Legend of Hell…

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange was just that strange. As we come to expect from most Marvel films the special effects and computer generated graphics are incredible and visually a joy to watch. I wanted to love this film. I like the casting of Benedict Cumberbatch and the character whom the film is based on. The fight scenes looked amazing but those things alone couldn’t make me love the movie. The plot pacing is painful because several scenes release great tension in favor of random comedic effects. For an extremely serious character development…

The Witchmaker (The Legend Of Witch Hollow)

The Witchmaker is also known as The Legend of Witch Hollow. The reason I start this review with the name of the film is that on Amazon Prime the film was labeled The Witchmaker, but the title screen in the film showed The Legend of Witch Hollow. Regardless of the what the film is called it is a trip from start to finish. The film original starts off to be a slasher flick and then changes directions two more times. This film is worth watch just simply for how bizarre…

Brides of Dracula

Part of the Hammer films series Brides of Dracula is an interesting story based on the Dracula mythos. Peter Cushing is the star of the film, sadly Christopher Lee was not in this film. The story is very similar to Horror Of Dracula, but there are definitely differences between the plots. My main issue for the film is while it was a decent film there really wasn’t anything that made the film standout. The acting of Peter Cushing was great and worth seeing, but I would recommend seeing Horror Of…

Midnight Meat Train

While I’m not a huge Clive Barker fan and did not particularly care for Hellraiser, Midnight Meat Train is a good film. One thing that really makes this film stand out from other gore fest films is the caliber of acting with both Bradley Cooper and Vinnie Jones. This talent helps the film become more believable. The detective murder mystery angle of the plot is wonderful and kept me wondering what turn the film was going to take next. My major issue with the film is the ending and the…

Gargoyles

The years were not exactly kind to this film. “Scary” gargoyles and a cliche plot line sums up this horror flick quite well. The biggest problem for me was that the film was not bad enough to be funny. For the entire length of Gargoyles I was waiting for the film to get better but it really never did. However there are some redeeming features a few plot devices did remind me of classic black and white science fiction films and a little bit of Evil Dead. If you’re looking…

Suicide Squad

Well to say that Suicide Squad was a disappointment would be an understatement. Honestly it has nothing to do with the acting. The acting quality and caliber of actors were great. The special effects were also amazing. The only thing that killed this movie and made it terrible was the plot and editing of the film. There was too much backstory and not enough story to make the movie worth watching. Several other things made it terrible such as the underdevelopment of characters and leaving them for pure comical purposes….

Phantasm

Phantasm is a great science fiction and horror film. While some of the special effects and plot devices are some what cheesy, it just adds to the overall atmosphere of the film. It is easy to see how Phantasm gained cult status from the iconic and menacing stare of Ken Jones. It makes the film for me and it deserves to be watched multiple times. Although I did criticized some of the special effects there were others that did blow me away and how well they were executed. As a…

La Cabina

La Cabina is one of the best short films I’ve seen and honestly it’s one of the best films I’ve seen period. What makes the movie great is the plot the reason for this is how bizarre and abstract the idea is. The interesting part is the transitions from public humiliation to the horror part of the film. It starts with almost a prank film where there are several funny/sad interactions with humanity and feels like a quite interesting commentary of the human race. Next is the bread and butter…
